3-Stage Chemical Wash System

High-Volume Chemical Cleaning and Conversion Coating

If your parts need thorough, consistent cleaning and a corrosion-resistant conversion coating before painting, powder coating, or assembly, our 3-stage chemical wash system delivers reliable results at production volume. This process is designed for manufacturers who need high-throughput parts cleaning without the wear and part-handling concerns of abrasive blasting.

Based in Florence, AL, Tri-State Metals provides 3-stage chemical wash processing to manufacturers throughout Northwest Alabama, Southern Tennessee, and Northeast Mississippi.

How the 3-Stage Chemical Wash Process Works

Our large Continuous Conveyor Spray Washer moves parts through a three-stage chemical wash process built for high-volume production. A pump and piping system transfers chemical solution from a reservoir tank to a set of risers. Nozzles attached to the risers direct a jet or swirl of solution onto the parts, physically and chemically removing soils and contaminants while producing a conversion coating on the part substrate.

Because parts move continuously through each stage, this process supports consistent, repeatable results across high production volumes — with no manual handling required between stages.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a conversion coating, and why does it matter?

A conversion coating is a thin chemical layer produced on the part surface during the wash process. It improves how well paint or powder coating adheres to the part and adds a layer of corrosion resistance.

How is this different from sandblasting?

Sandblasting uses abrasive media to mechanically strip a surface. Our 3-stage chemical wash system uses a chemical spray process instead, which is well suited to high-volume continuous production and parts that don't require abrasive treatment.

Can this process be paired with powder coating or wet paint spraying?

Yes — chemical wash pretreatment is commonly used ahead of both powder coating and wet paint spraying to improve adhesion and finish durability. Ask about combining processes for your project.

What types of soils and contaminants does this process remove?

The process removes oils, soils, and other surface contaminants that can interfere with coating adhesion, preparing parts for painting, powder coating, or assembly.
